Mxican Honeymoon: Day 7

Day 7: Saturday

Saturday was one of the funnest days! It was definitely the best included tour!!! FO SHO! I didn't really feel like going in the morning but I knew I would regret it if I didn't get to see ANY Mayan ruins! So, we boarded the bus for the kinda longish ride to Tulum!!!

First, they stopped at some half way mark to let us go to the bathroom and shop at this little local store. They had some AWESOME stuff. It was all pretty expensive though, because I'm sure mainly tourists go there...on their way to Tulum. Chase and I didn't have much money left at this point so I got a silver necklace that says "Norton" in mayan script (hopefully) and we bought a hammock!! (yes, it fits on our balcony!! ha!)

Then we loaded back on to the bus and went to THE RUINS (did anyone see that movie or read the book...creepy!)

It was really hot and really beautiful and really...ancient looking... :) That's really all there is to say about it...the pictures sort of speak for themselves. And if you're thinking "wow, there are a lot of pictures!" Don't even ask how many I left out haha!

After Tulum we went to another palace resort, of course. But this was the coolest one of all!!! It had a zoo-type-deal in it!! it was obviously huge and you had to walk down these long roads to get anywhere it seemed like but on the sides of the road there were all sorts of awesome animals!!!! We didn't get to see all of them because we ran out of time. This was the one palace resort where we didn't have enough time. We ate and then we got to go snorkeling (for FREE) and we could have gone kayaking too but we ran out of time for that too. :( It was really really fun!!

PS
the pictures are out of order (last pictures first and vice versa).

The flamingos matched my swim suit!

yes, Chase took my life jacket! I kept telling him but it's hard to communicate through snorkels.

yes, I kow this is gross but I had to show it. It's AMAZING! Someone wring me out!

This is the fertility temple. "Very good for honeymooners!" as the guide kept saying. haha!

There is a face on the corner! see it?

This was our FAVORITE tour guide. He was so mellow compared to all the "party captains." He joked but it was really dry and I LOVE that kinda stuff!

I think we were fake laughing...can you tell?

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 6

Day 6: Friday

So, by the end of the week we were VERY tired. It's exhausting have fun for 8 hours a day in the hot hot sun! haha!

We were scheduled to go to Chichen Itza this day but we, once AGAIN, missed our bus (maybe subconciously on purpose) due to over sleeping. So we went back to the room and laid down and didn't get up...AAAALLLLL DAAAAAAY LOOOOONNGG! The room had HBO so we watched movies all day. We kept the curtains open so we could look over and see the ocean whenever we so chose though. :) We ordered room service for all 3 meals and had a completely, utterly, epitomy of a lazy day lazy day! It was wonderful! I'm glad we took a day to do that. If I ever took a day to lay down and watch movies and that is literally all I did all day while I was at home I would feel SO extremely guilty and anxious. Not in mexico though! :D

We were feeling kind of sick this day too. An all day siesta was needed.

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 5

Day 5: Thursday

I canNOT, for the life of me, remember what we did on Thursday!! I obviously mixed something up because I only have one more day of pictures left to post...oh well! We did something fun I'm sure! haha!

OH WAIT! I remember!!! Der! We went and swam with the dolphins this day!!!! Fun stuff! (I have a hard time remembering because I didn't take any pictures and Chase didn't get any video.) Chase couldn't bring his water proof camera because they said it would scare the dolphins and I didn't bring my camera because...it's not water proof. SO, we did buy a DVD and a picture of each of us with the dolphins but I will have to scan them to get them on here. I'll do that some day :)

So, we got to do this exciting activity at this "big" waterpark called Wet'n'Wild! it looked a lot like Raging Waters. Wave pool and everything. But Raging Waters doesn't have swimming with the dolpins...does it?

We swam with the dolphins, which intailed learning some actions that get them to do tricks and touching them as they swam by us and they gave us kisses and "high fives" and dragged us back to our stand from the middle of the pool! It was pretty rockin...maybe I could get some of the DVD on here too... We spent a lot of money for the pictures and DVD...the pictures were worth it I think but the DVD is kinda...well, crap. It's okay, it's the memories that count right?

After the swim with the dolphins we got to hang out at the water park. They are part of the palace resorts so we got free lunch. Chase went on this ride that was like being flushed. It looked funny...not fun...funny. And we swam around in the lazy river a bit and then we got some FREE ice cream...FREE ICE CREAM!! and then we hung out in the gift shop adn then we went back to the hotel. And I assume we went to dinner or something later but I really cannot remember...odd...

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 4

Day 4: Wednesday

So, Wednesday we were supposed to go to Tulum and another one of the palace resorts but our alarm didn't go off...again... We ended up getting up and going to the tour bus stop and just missing it. I wasn't too terribly sad just because I was feeling pretty beat and Friday we were supposed to go to Chichen Itza (or "chicken pizza" as some people call it.)

So, we went back to the room and I fell asleep and Chase went down to reschedule our trip to Tulum (because he is sweet) and then he ordered room service for us. :) So, when I woke up we had some yummy breakfast waiting!!

THEN we decided to go on the "shopping tour" which is really just a tour bus that takes you to another palace resort and you walk to a high-end mall (comparable to gateway) and you shop and have free lunch at the palace resort and they pick you back up in like 4 hours. We decided to go to finally find me a swimming suit! It was pretty fun but REALLY HOT! It seems to be really freaking hot unless you are RIGHT near the beach. We DID find me a swimming suit and it was bright orange and Chase got me a cute cover up too.

After they picked us up and took us back to our resort we went swimming and laid out on the beach and then we went to dinner later that evening. :) It was a nice day!

PS
the pictures are really in NO particular order at all. Just all from that day.

Chase felt like a tourist in his Hawaiian shirt that my mom gave him and wearing my big camera around his neck haha!

Chase hates putting on sunscreen. He doesn't like the "greasy" feel it has.

There were iguanas all over! This one we found by the side of the road on our way to the mall!

This is one of the palace resorts, pretty beautiful!

This is our "we WILL find a swim suit today!" face...and we did!

This was the ONLY store in the mall that sold souveniry type stuff! I thought we would be shopping in downtown Cancun...like cheapo shops and stuff. *sigh* no such luck.

This is where we FINALLY found my swim suit!

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 3

Day 3: Tuesday Ello all!! Tuesday we had a tour to Isla Mujeres. I guess it's the island of women? (Not a direct translation.) So we got on the tour bus and they took us to a fun beachy place where we got on a boat that took us to the island. :) It was a party boat. Everything there was party-themed. I am not a big partier so I got tired of it pretty quickly. It was a beautiful day and the ocean was soooooo turquoise-y!! The ride was fun but I kind of wished they had just stopped talking and playing music and just let us relax and enjoy the view.

The Isla Mujeres tour included an activity which was either snorkeling or a guided tour of the island. I wanted to do the guided tour and Chase wanted to do snorkeling. They said we could probably do both but then we wouldn't have time for lunch and we have figured out the hard way that I don't do well with out food so we couldn't do both.

We went snorkeling which was a lot of fun. I was a little scared at first because they just take you out to the middle of the ocean and shove you off the boat!!! haha just kidding! But they did pull up to this rocky area and just kind of let you off and you just went around and kind of followed the group. I just didn't know what to expect and you have this thing covering your eyes and nose. I freaked out a little at first. And I kept getting water in my snorkel tube dealy. Swallowed a lot of salt water. And apparently I kept breathing out my nose and pushing my mask away from my face and THAT'S how I kept getting water in my eyes. Anywho, there was a guide and he would swim around and try to find fish to show you. He said there weren't many fish because the water was so rough! I dont' have any pictures from there but Chase took a whole lot of underwater video! I'll have to post it some day. :)

After snorkeling (which I really did enjoy!) they took us to another palace resort to shower off and eat lunch and rest by the pool. You see, we stayed at the Moon Palace resort and there are a lot of different Palace resorts all over Cancun and we got free stuff from all of them. :) So we went there and ate and sunbathed (in my one piece) and got ready to be picked up for the third part of the tour.

The third part of the tour was shopping!! :) Chase and I didn't have much money with us that day but we had enough to get some souvenirs and a ring for me and some water. It was QUITE hot! I guess if you're not RIGHT directly next to the water the temperature rises 100 degrees!!!!!

Then we took the boat back to our palace resort and went to our candle light dinner! :)

Also, this was the night, I think, when we found out the jacuzzi tub was shooting mold out of the jets...eeewwww! They moved us to a different room!

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 2

Day 2: Monday
Monday morning we had to meet with Best Day Travel. This was the company that shuttled us to and from the airport and we had to meet with them to basically let them know what time we needed a ride back to the airport. We were supposed to meet them at 9:30am so we set the room alarm clock for 8:00am so we could get some breakfast and get ready and stuff but, weird thing, none of the alarms we set EVER went off at the time we set them for! It was so strange! So, anywho, we woke up on our own around 9:29 so we called down and let them know we would be late and they said "Sure, just come whenever." We're not in America anymore...haha! So, when we did go down to meet with them we also scheduled a pirate ship dinner cruise with them! It was for that evening. :) Our first fun paid-for activity in Mexico!

It was A LOT of fun!! we went on this ship and we were introduced to Captain Jack Sparrow (on Captain Hook's ship) and his crew and they did a dance for us and gave us drinks and they just stood around telling jokes for awhile and then they started the games. They grabbed 4 guys from the crowd and they had to do a beer drinking contest. It was a little more complicated than just drinking bee though. They had to run around their stools 3 times and then run across the deck to their cup of beer and get on the floor and drink it with a straw and then run back to their stool. It looked pretty difficult considering the boat was a rockin and they were dizzy from spinning around their stools and beer is disgusting too so...yeah. A man from England won that.

Then he was calling up ladies from the crowd and, surprise surprise, he picked me. I was freaking out because I don't drink and the first thing the capitan did was nick name me Barbie (original) then he said, "welcome to our TEQUILA DRINKING CONTEST!!!" And I was thinking of how I could get out of it immediately!!! These people LIKE their tequila! Then he said "Just kidding. No tequila drinking. WET T-SHIRT CONTEST!!" and I thought I was going to pewk haha! There were three of us girls and he asked each one of us if we drank tequila, luckily there was a girl besdies me who didn't haha! And he asked me if I would rather do a tequila drinking contest or a wet t-shirt contest and I told him I was going to jump off the side of the boat! Haha I'm hilarious.

Anywho, it ended up being a contest where the Capitan asked us to get as many pairs of shoes as possible from the people in the crowd. It was a little scary but I got into it and WON! Woohoo!! At first the capitan said my prize was his little person crew memeber Tatu. haha! But then he gave me that bandana I'm wearing in the pirate picture above and an eye patch!!

Later we got a delicious steak dinner and then we BATTLED another ship!! By we I mean our crew battled their crew! There was sword fighting and all sorts of stuff! And then they had a little dance party! :)

Sidenote: on the way home this cute dad guy walked past us and said, "Honeymooers! If you're thinking about having kids, don't wait. best thing that ever happened to me." awwww!

That is the other ship off in the distance!

Mexican Honeymoon: Day 1

So. We got there Sunday afternoon, around 3:00pm.

We checked in and then they directed us to the concierge (our personal concierge Nidia) who gave us info on tours and such. Then she directed us to the "honeymooners desk" where they gave us info on what we got because we're honeymooning there.

Then we finally got to go to our room and relaxed for a little bit, checked out the mini bar, tasted some wine (ew!), unpacked a little (this is where we discovered that I had forgotten our swim suites) etc. Then we just wondered around the resort for awhile, tried some of the food (they had 3 main restaurants: the sweet and coffe which was pastries and desserts and breakfast stuff and coffee, the brazilian restaurant which was like rodizios but much less of a selection, and the buffet which had EVERYTHING. Chase had steak every night haha!), went and scheduled some tours and later we went to dinner and then to bed!

Mexican Honeymoon

Hello all!!!! (mostly Megan! haha!)

So. I am FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY married!!! :D And even after almost 2 weeks of being married, I still love Chase as much as I did two weeks ago...the day I married him. haha! I'll post more about that when I get my pictures *ahem* (haha Megan, jk jk, take your time)

What I have pictures of right now is the honeymoon!!!! :D So! I have decided, since I have soooooooo many, to organize them by day. And I am going to do a different post for each day. I know this may seem like it's making the whole posting-of-the-honeymoon process more trouble than it needs to be but, for me, it makes much more sense! okay? okay! :)

Read on!
